Television Director With Parkinson’s Disease Approved for Long Term Disability Benefits

Jennifer was a well-known television director who had spent years building a demanding and successful career. When she developed Parkinson’s disease, she tried hard to keep working for as long as she could.

At first, Jennifer continued working with accommodations. Her employer allowed her to work from home, reduced her hours, and adjusted some of her work demands. Even with those changes, the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease continued to interfere with her ability to perform her occupation reliably.

For Jennifer, the problem was not a lack of commitment. She had already pushed herself as far as she could. But her condition made it increasingly difficult to sustain the pace, focus, stamina, communication, and consistency her work required.

By the time Jennifer contacted Riemer Hess, she was receiving short term disability benefits and understood that she needed a longer-term plan.

Jennifer met with Scott Riemer to discuss her claim. Based on the nature of her occupation, her medical condition, and the progression of her symptoms, our team identified the evidence that would be needed to support her long term disability application.

Riemer Hess worked quickly to develop Jennifer’s medical file. We gathered and organized the relevant medical records, prepared a detailed long term disability application, and submitted supplemental materials to help explain how Parkinson’s disease affected Jennifer’s ability to work.

Because the application was thorough and supported by strong medical documentation, Jennifer was approved for long term disability benefits less than two months after retaining Riemer Hess.

Riemer Hess continues to represent Jennifer in the ongoing monitoring of her claim to help protect her continued benefits.
